Hello everyone, and welcome to another of my reviews. In this article, I’ll review a new suit commission from the Bangkok tailor Perfect Tailor BKK.

I first reviewed Perfect Tailor BKK last year, when they were offering 24-hour suits from a cosy, nondescript shopfront in MBK Center. Since then, the brand has levelled up exponentially, relocating to a spacious two-storey boutique along the bustling Sukhumvit Road. During my most recent trip to Bangkok, I made it a point to visit their spanking-new storefront—here’s how the experience unfolded.

Perfect Tailor BKK – the Video

For hands-on footage of my experience with Perfect Tailor BKK in their new Sukhumvit storefront, do watch the YouTube video below:

Perfect Tailor BKK – the Experience

Perfect Tailor BKK is located alongside the iconic Sukhumvit Road, and a 10-minute walk from either Phrom Phong or Thong Lor BTS Station.

Keep an eye out for the large yellow storefront—you won’t miss it. It’s a dramatic departure from their previous MBK Center location, whose relatively nondescript facade made the shop surprisingly easy to overlook if you weren’t paying close attention.

Inside, the contrast becomes even more apparent. Perfect Tailor’s new two-storey boutique offers ample space, comfortably accommodating four to five groups at once without feeling crowded. It’s no exaggeration to say the new showroom is roughly seven to eight times the size of the old MBK outlet, which was scarcely larger than a single parking space.

The first thing I noticed was how the showroom was lined wall-to-wall with fabrics—it’s apparent that their fabric collection has grown significantly as well.

Even more fabric rolls are displayed on the second floor, with practically every shade and texture held in stock.

Having visited nearly two dozen tailors in Bangkok to date, I can confidently say that Perfect Tailor BKK offers the widest selection of fabric rolls I’ve encountered in a single showroom. The breadth of options—ranging from shirting and suiting to tuxedo fabrics and linings—is genuinely impressive. The team has clearly invested heavily in building this collection, which, after all, is the very raison d’être of custom tailoring.

While the team has evolved slightly, Louis—whom I met during my previous visit—remains at the helm and personally showed me around the new showroom. It was clear that he takes immense pride in the space, which now enables him to deliver a far more premium experience for his customers. When I remarked on the sheer abundance of fabrics, he admitted that he had actually overordered—you can spot surplus rolls lined up along the walls due to a lack of shelving. This, he explained, stems from his desire to offer customers the widest possible range of options across every price point, colour, and texture.

Louis also showed me several of the new fabric books, which are noticeably more premium than his previous offerings. These serve as additional options if customers, for whatever reason, are unable to find what they’re looking for among the countless fabric rolls on display.

During my first visit to Perfect Tailor BKK, I commissioned a black suit with a subtle polka dot pattern. This time around, in light of the brand’s elevated positioning, I told Louis I wanted a classic double-breasted suit in a fabric that was versatile yet far from dull. After poring over hundreds of fabric rolls in the showroom, we eventually settled on a dark grey fabric featuring a refined birdseye pattern.

As for the lining, we went for a tone-on-tone grey lining fabric with a paisley print.

To round off the classic look, we also decided on a nice easy-iron white shirting fabric that felt premium to the touch.

With the fabric selection settled, Louis then took my measurements. I’ve covered Perfect Tailor BKK’s measuring process in my previous review, so I’ll gloss over the process here.

After two days, I returned to Perfect Tailor BKK for my basted fitting. For those unfamiliar with the process, a basted fitting involves trying on a skeletal version of the jacket, held together with temporary white basting stitches. To learn more about the basted fitting, read this educational article here. Personally, I believe that a basted fitting is essential to a true tailoring experience. To quote a line from the article mentioned above: “It’s the difference between flying first class and flying on a private jet.”

Again, this is an improvement over my previous 24-hour suiting experience with Perfect Tailor, which did not include a basted fitting process due to the quick turnover time. This time, however, it felt like a true tailoring process, where the focus is as much on the experience as it is on the final product.

The basted fitting was partially supervised by Louis, who took great pains to pore over every aspect of it. For instance, you can see him here attaching the sleeves to the basted fitting jacket separately in order to achieve the best possible sleeve pitch.

He wasn’t alone, however. During my fitting, he was joined by Ram, whom longtime readers might recall from my first visit to Narry Bespoke Tailors. Ram had recently left to join Louis at Perfect Tailor BKK’s new showroom. With over two decades of tailoring experience—including overseeing countless basted fittings—he was able to support Louis by swiftly identifying the areas that required adjustment.

As is often the case, the most problematic area was my back, where wrinkles tend to form due to my uneven shoulders and pronounced arch. Louis swiftly pinned the necessary sections for alteration, resulting in a noticeably cleaner drape (as reflected in the photo above).

Lastly, Louis also took several photos of me in the basted fitting garments for reference. I could tell right away that the fit was much better than my initial experience—just look at how cleanly the sleeves drape.

After another two days, I returned to the showroom to try on and collect the finished suit.

Perfect Tailor BKK – Suit Review

Now that I’m back in Singapore, let’s take a closer look at the suit.

From the front, the jacket fits well, with shoulders that sit cleanly and remain free of wrinkles. The waist is gently tapered, creating a refined, cinched silhouette, while the jacket length is spot on, ending just below the thumb bone. If I were to nitpick, however, there are still faint creases visible beneath my right shoulder, suggesting that my sloping shoulders were not fully accommodated.

On the other hand, the sleeve pitch is perfect, letting the sleeves hang smoothly with minimal creasing. The length is precise, revealing just half an inch of the shirt cuff.

Furthermore, the back drapes well, with minimal wrinkling. Louis and Ram paid close attention to this area during the basted fitting, and their diligence is clearly reflected in the final result.

Turning to the fabric, the charcoal mixed-wool birdseye cloth is particularly striking, lending subtle visual interest to an otherwise mature aesthetic. I have developed a growing appreciation for the birdseye pattern in recent commissions, and I remain drawn to the distinctive texture it offers. It is far less ostentatious than checks, windowpanes, or pinstripes, yet delivers a level of refinement that surpasses a plain solid. Elsewhere, the peak lapels are entirely in keeping with a classic double-breasted suit, while the integrated pocket square adds a practical touch.

In keeping with the suit’s classic character, I opted for the traditional 6×2 double-breasted configuration. The wide peak lapels give the jacket a commanding presence, while the tone-on-tone black buttons maintain a sense of restraint. Although it shares the same 6×2 DB format, the overall styling stands in marked contrast to the bolder expression of my recent commission from Narry Bespoke Tailor.

In addition, the buttonholes are fully functional, a hallmark of quality tailoring often referred to as a surgeon’s cuff.

On the inside, the understated grey paisley lining complements the classic character of the double-breasted suit. Subtle piping along the edges serves as a quiet testament to the care taken in its construction. As a final flourish, a simple monogram of my name adds a personalised touch.

As always, I opted for side adjusters on my trousers for a cleaner look.

As for the fit, I found it a clear improvement over my first suit from Perfect Tailor. The inclusion of a basted fitting has resulted in a noticeably sharper outcome, with a classic British silhouette that balances structure and suppression. Purists may consider the jacket slightly short, but I find that the reduced length lends the suit a more contemporary overall appearance.

Conclusion – so Perfect Tailor BKK “shiok” or not?

With its move to a new showroom, Perfect Tailor BKK has clearly elevated its offerings. A significantly expanded fabric selection and the introduction of a basted fitting process mark its evolution into a proper tailoring house—complete with the experience to match. I was thoroughly impressed with the fit and cut of my new charcoal birdseye double-breasted suit; it carries the appearance of something far more expensive than its actual price tag suggests. This is a suit I would be proud to wear to any formal occasion—a marked departure from the previous ultra-affordable 24-hour suit that I made while they were still based in MBK Center.

Despite the new location, suits from Perfect Tailor still start at 6,000 THB (~$245), with this particular suit costing 12,000 THB (~$490). For those interested in commissioning a suit from Perfect Tailor, quoting the promo code ‘WAHSOSHIOK’ or presenting this post in-store will grant you a 10% discount on your total purchase.
