Hello everyone, and welcome to another of my reviews. In this article, I’ll review my experience at the Plaza Premium Lounge in Changi Airport Terminal 1.
Plaza Premium Lounge is one of three Priority Pass lounges in Terminal 1, the others being Marhaba Lounge and SATS Premier Lounge. I visited Plaza Premium Lounge during my recent trip to Bangkok – let’s see how my experience went.

Plaza Premium Lounge – Review
The Plaza Premium Lounge is located airside, on level three of Terminal 1 (west of the Coffee Bean).
My first impression of the lounge was that it’s pretty big, with plenty of seating spaces. There’s a panoramic window view facing departing planes, but as it was early morning when I visited, I wasn’t able to catch planes taking off.
However, there are two prominent flight info screens in the lounge so that you won’t miss the takeoff of your flight. Interestingly, “western” reading materials such as Revolution magazine and The New York Times are provided in place of local options like 8 Days or The Straits Times.
I arrived at the lounge at around 5.30am, and was disappointed that the bar was closed – so if you’re an alcoholic, you might want to opt for other lounges if you’ve an early morning flight.
While waiting for the bar to open, I decided to opt for a bowl of laksa from the lounge’s ala-carte menu.
Freshly made on the spot, the laksa tastes surprisingly good, and is a marked improvement over the standard bland buffet food from lounges like Ambassador Transit Lounge (which I just reviewed).
For the more health-conscious, there’s also a small salad bar. Impressively, it’s accompanied by a detailed food allergy notice.
There’s also a small buffet line. During breakfast, food such as scrambled eggs, ham, sausages, and fried noodles was available.
Soon after I finished my bowl of laksa, the bar opened. I was slightly disappointed to discover that most of its options – cocktails, hard liquor, even Guinness beer – are paid. The only free options are your standard white and red wine, as well as Tiger beer.
As I’ve also opted for a serving of chicken rice from the Ala carte menu, I chose white wine to pair with the food. Overall, the food from Plaza Premium lounge is substantially better than its peers, though the alcohol selection is severely limited, with the free options (such as the white wine) being nothing to shout about.
For the non-alcoholics, there are also tea and coffee option available, as well as juices, toast, and cereal.
I was also impressed by the well-stocked fridge that was filled to the brim with canned drinks.
However, I was less impressed by the fact that the shower facilities cost extra. The lounge also has nap pods and sleeping suites, but – you guessed it – those cost additional as well.
The Plaza Premium Lounge in Changi Terminal 1 is a double-edged sword. On one hand, it does live up to its “premium” billing – the lounge is spacious, the reading materials are “atas”, and the food offerings are also markedly better than those from standard Priority Pass lounges such as Marhaba and Ambassador Transit. However, most of its best offerings – showers, cocktails, nap pods – also come with a premium surcharge. That’s a pity, but if you don’t have much need for those facilities, then I believe the Plaza Premium lounge is still a good option if you’re searching for a lounge to relax in Changi Terminal 1.
Plaza Premium Lounge in Terminal 1 is open 24 Hours daily.
